“Wine is passion for me.  It’s family and friends. It’s warmth of heart and generosity of spirit. Wine is art.  It is culture. It’s the essence of civilisation and the art of living,” – Robert Mondavi, Harvests of Joy.

Our Vision

A passion for excellence guided us while we were decorating Hotel Villa Andrea’s newly opened wine cellar. Steered by the notion of the great American winemaker that every table deserves the joy of having a good wine, we have enriched our cuisine with wine tastings, accompanied by refreshments or dinner. Our guests also have the option of buying some of the best wine varieties. Our vision, by expanding our tourist offer to wine tourism, is to offer guests a complete and original sensation of sights, sounds and tastes.

Croatian wine has a history dating back to Ancient Greek settlers and their winemaking on the southern Dalmatian islands of Vis, Hvar and Korčula, some 2500 years ago. As in other countries around the world with a long tradition of winemaking, many traditional grape varieties still remain in Croatia, which perfectly mirror their local wine hills. Modern winemaking methods have been adopted by the larger wineries. Wine regulations in accordance with the EU have been passed, guaranteeing the quality of the wine. There are two respective winemaking regions in Croatia. The continental region situated in the northeast of the country makes rich, fruity white wines, in a style similar to those made in neighbouring areas of Slovenia, Austria and Hungary. On the northern coast, Istrian wines are similar to those made in neighbouring Italy, whilst further south, winemaking is more akin to the grand Mediterranean style of red wines. On the islands and on the Dalmatian coast, the local grape varieties, microclimate and the fairly rough nature of the vineyards lead to some highly individual products, and some of Croatia’s best-known wines.

Our Goal

– to familiarise local and foreign guests with Croatian wines, especially Dalmatian and Istria wines .
